At the County Council meeting on Monday, October 7th, the Housing Attainability Act, Bill 72-24, gets its first hearing. The affordable housing in this bill is desperately needed. But the bill will have significant impacts beyond affordable housing on the environment, adding impervious surface, reducing open areas for recreation, and encouraging more building in greenfields rather than redeveloping existing areas.
ACT NOW, to send a letter to the Council, asking them to delay the vote so that these matters can be worked out with input from advocates around the county who all have a stake in this bill but whose voices were never included in its drafting.
You can customize your letter at https://actionnetwork.org/letters/hold-bill-72-24/
And, come to the Council Chambers Monday night at 7 and let the Council know where you stand.
